Memorial Day Weekend

We spent the weekend of Memorial Day in Cabot visiting my parents and Sheila & Stephen. We had a lot of fun! They have come up to see us a lot over the last year, so it was a nice change to visit them in Cabot. Vivi did lots of playing, Damian did lots of golfing, and I got in a long nap on the back patio, along with a little shopping!

Vivi's curls...I wish I had those. I wonder if they will stay?
Delighted to see so many cookbooks to play with!
Our little helper unloading the dishwasher...
Damian balancing golf balls...

Sheila made some spiced crackers (cayenne pepper) that Vivi demanded to try. We told her, "no, they're too spicy," but she insisted. So we let her try it and she liked them so much that she ate two! She IS our daughter!!!
Sheila is a gourmet chef, so we ate really well all weekend. Here's an example...grilled chipotle oysters for our appetizer on Saturday night.

Vivi was squealing for Grandpa Tom's garden fresh asparagus...one of her favorites.
Stephen let Vivi check out all the things that "go"...

She loved the golf cart rides the best!
We're looking forward to our next visit!!!

Mwah, mwah

Before bed every night, Vivi and I tuck her dolly into her cradle.  She gives her kisses, rocks her good night, and we sing "Rock a Bye Baby."  Here's a little video of Vivi giving her dolly big smooches...she also loves opening and closing the baby's eyes.

The last few weeks

Here's a run-down on what's been going on the last few weeks...

Vivi is little miss adventurous these days!  She loves walking up (and down, if we'd let her) the stairs off of our back deck and she insists on doing it all by herself.  The height makes my toes tingle, but she is fearless right now.

Here she is drinking water from the running faucet...

A couple Saturdays ago, Les, Lee, Stephanie, Boriana, and I went out for sushi and had good intentions of hitting Dickson Street.  We made it to one bar, but it was loud, somewhat smokey, and we couldn't see or hear each other...we're so old!  So we decided to ditch the bar and headed over to Bordino's for coffee and dessert.  We had a really fun time!!!
Vivi is fascinated with books now more than ever.   Her favorites of the moment are her Colors book which is full of beautiful, glossy pictures, her Animal Alphabet book, Five Little Lady Bugs, and Good Morning Good Night.  At bedtime, she also loves looking up at the ceiling and pointing and saying, "stars" in a whisper.
In this pic below, she saw a bird in the book and she is putting her fingers up to her lips and making the "bird" sign.  She does this when we're outside and hears the birds chirping, too.
Here she is giving some love to Huggy...
...then Max.
Then, Huggy joined the love-fest (unfortunately, Ashley won't tolerate it).
Damian went on a golf trip with some of his guy friends and while he was away, Uncle Stephen and my mom came over to visit us.  Stephen was in town for work and my mom stayed the weekend.
Lola Grace taught Vi how to ride her inch worm.  Her legs are still a little too short, so she rides it on tippy toes.  After she discovered this, she started walking and running on tippy toes, too!
We met Steph and Brian at Little Bread Company and walked over to the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning.
We also got to see Aunt Sarah this week!  Unfortunately, Grandma Ann had a fall and is recovering from surgery, which is why Sarah flew in from SC, but it was still so nice to see her, even if it was brief.  By the way, Vivi LOVED Aunt Sarah...wanted her to hold her and played with her necklace, and cried when she had to leave!
All for now.  Jay and Drew will be finished with Phase 1 of our landscape project tomorrow!!!!  More pics of that later.

Bug Boil

Finally...here are the few pics I have from the 2nd Annual D.C. Lind III Bug Boil.  I think Sarah took a lot more, so I'm looking forward to seeing what she captured.  It was a very wet, gray day, but we had a good turnout and enough money was raised to provide one full year scholarship to a UofA student.

Eric and Rod did an awesome job with all the food!  Everything was delicious!!
Eric was able to get the ingredients donated from Walmart this year which was so generous!
